What file types can I upload?
PDF with selectable text, Word documents with text content including .docx, text files (.txt), and Markdown (.md). Scanned PDFs and photos of pages are not supported because there is no OCR. Pasting text is not supported; upload the file.
How many credits does a document use?
PDFs cost 1 credit per page. Other documents cost 1 credit per 2,000-character section, including a partial section. Preview the cost first, then choose a smaller range if your credits are not enough. New accounts start with a trial allowance shown on your account page.
What are the size limits?
Up to 10 MB per file and up to 500 pages or sections per document.
What language will my cards be in?
Cards match your source. English documents produce English cards, Chinese documents produce Chinese cards. The app interface is available in English and Chinese.
Is my document private?
Your documents belong to your account and are not shared with other users. To generate and review cards, the selected text is sent to DeepSeek. WakeCards is hosted on DigitalOcean in the United States, with migration backups temporarily stored in China.
Do I need an account?
You can try 5 original demo cards without signing up. Uploading your own documents requires a free account, and you must be 18 or older.
Is generation instant?
No. Processing is not instant, and larger documents take longer. The server keeps processing after you close the tab. AI can make mistakes, so check important facts against your source.
What is roast mode?
Roast mode is an optional tone setting, off by default, for adults 18 and older. When you turn it on, the short note under each card gets a sharper tone designed to target study habits, not people. It is not designed to target your family or your identity. Turn it off and the cards go back to plain.
Can I export to Anki?
There is no automatic Anki export. WakeCards is a focused review loop inside the app.
